GenAv CoPilot

1. Who We Are

GenAv CoPilot is developed by Sam Greaves. The app doesn't send any personal data to us, so we only hold personal data you send us yourself, for example in a support email. For that data we are the controller under UK data protection law. Contact details are at the end of this policy.

2. What the App Stores, and Where

Everything you create in the app is stored on your device and, if you're signed in to iCloud, in your own iCloud account so it's available on your other devices. We have no access to your iCloud account. This includes:

• Aircraft profiles, including weight and balance data, CG envelopes, checklists and photos of performance charts
• Flight plans, with any weight and balance and chart readings you save to them
• Your logbook entries and currency settings
• Recorded flights: times, take-offs and landings, and the GPS track
• Notes, drawings, radio stations and app settings

Your Apple Watch receives your checklists and, while a flight is recording, the flight's status (times, next waypoint, position and GPS quality) to show on the Watch.

3. Location

• The app uses your location only while you record a flight, with your permission ("While Using the App"). It may ask for precise location for that flight.
• While a flight is recording, location continues in the background, and iOS may reopen the app in the background to carry on a recording if it was closed. Recording stops when you finish or discard the flight.
• The GPS track is saved with your recorded flight, on your device and in your iCloud. It's never sent to us. It leaves your device only if you choose to share the flight, and you can leave the track out when you do.
• The Apple Watch GPS tracker, when you start it, uses the Watch's location on the Watch only. That track isn't saved.

4. Camera and Photos

If you photograph or import a chart from your aircraft's flight manual, the image is analysed on your device and stored with your aircraft profile. Images are never sent to us or to any online service.

5. Notifications, Widgets and Live Activities

Reminders (for example about currency) and the "GPS signal lost" alert are local notifications created on your device. The currency widget and the flight's Live Activity show information from the app on your device. None of these involve sending data to us.

6. Maps and Other Data Sources

• Maps: maps are provided by Apple Maps. When you view a map, your device requests map images for that area from Apple, under Apple's privacy policy.
• Airports: a built-in snapshot of OurAirports data (public domain). Looking up airports happens on your device.
• Magnetic variation: the World Magnetic Model (WMM2025), calculated on your device.

The app makes no other network requests, and contains no third-party analytics, advertising or crash-reporting code.

7. Sharing

Data leaves the app only when you choose to share it, for example an aircraft profile, flight plan, recorded flight, PDF report or GPX track, using the iOS share sheet. Where it applies, you can choose what to leave out (such as names or the GPS track) before sharing.

8. Keeping and Deleting Your Data

• You can delete items in the app at any time.
• Uninstalling the app removes the data stored on that device.
• Data in your iCloud account stays there until you delete it, which you can do from the app or from your iCloud settings.
• We don't keep copies of your data on any server.

9. Your Rights

Because the app doesn't send us your data, we generally hold nothing about you to access, correct or delete. If you've emailed us, you can ask us to see or delete that correspondence. If you're unhappy with how we've handled personal data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

10. Children

GenAv CoPilot is intended for pilots. It doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy, for example when the app gains a feature that uses your data differently. We'll post the new version on this page and update the "Last Updated" date.
